OBD & Requirements
Understand what OBD adds, which purchase is needed, and what the status indicators mean.
What does this feature do?
OBD support enriches trip recording with live vehicle data. It is an optional add-on and not included for every user by default.
Where can I find it?
- Open Settings > OBD Adapter to manage the adapter connection.
- Watch the live trip card on the dashboard for GPS and OBD signal bubbles.
- Open the paywall or account area if you need to unlock OBD access.
Requirements
- PRO is required.
- The separate OBD add-on must also be active.
- A supported OBD adapter is needed.
- Bluetooth and required system permissions must be enabled.
Steps
- Make sure your account has PRO and the OBD add-on.
- Plug in your supported OBD adapter and pair it if needed.
- Open Settings > OBD Adapter and connect the device.
- Start a trip and confirm that the OBD bubble changes to fresh data.
- If the engine is off, the app can show that it is waiting for ECU data until the vehicle wakes up again.
Recommended adapters
- Veepeak BLE+ - tested in real-world trip recording.
- OBDLink MX+ (model MX201) - tested in real-world trip recording.
These adapters are the ones we have personally tested so far. Other adapters may work, but we recommend starting with one of the tested models.
FAQ
Is OBD included in basic trip recording?
No. GPS trip recording works without OBD, while OBD is a paid add-on for eligible users.
Why does the app show “Waiting for ECU data”?
That means the adapter session exists but the vehicle is not currently delivering fresh data, for example during engine-off phases.
Why is OBD not available for my account?
Check both entitlements: PRO and the OBD add-on must be active.
How much does the OBD Add-on cost?
The OBD Add-on is available at CHF 2.00 monthly, CHF 24.00 yearly, or CHF 60.00 lifetime. GarageLog360 PRO is still required separately.
